Where do I see a great opportunity here? Definitely at the Host Level. Boutique Hosting is going to become a booming market
As a non-network/non-server guy, here's what I'd like to see -- a group of street-smart hack-savvy experts who formed a company which would be hired by hosting services for the explicit purpose of finding exploits in their servers, along the lines of the things being discussed here (cPanel, VDeck, AWstats, etc).
If the ISP passed the ongoing tests, the group would provide some sort of certification/verification icon which the ISP could display, and (more importantly) this company would list on their own website those hosting services that appeared safe ("safe" being a relative term).
While it's probably impossible to say with 100% certainty that any server is problem free, something like this would at least provide some level of confidence. Right now, it feels like we're all taking our chances every time we set up a new site, and THAT gets old.
