I find this to be a fascinating discussion, probably because I know zero about any of the "tricks/techniques/hacks" that you all are referring to in the various posts.

So I have a question...

Are these hacks only detectable by a knowledgeable webmaster/siteowner?

OR,

As Google does a deep crawl, could the algorithm "suspect" that a site has been hacked with the sort of things that have been listed in this thread, because it sees many of the tell-tale signs?
