Sorry Tigger, been crying into my cornflakes

Whilst it seems some people are quite pleased with these results, in the field i'm viewing the results are absolute trash.

As Tigger has already mentioned, we both promote our sites in the same field, however, both our sites are written in a different way, laid out with a different structure and using completely different on page information, however, we have both been 'bent over' in the current serps.

A lot of the top 20 positions are taken by sites breaking G's guidlines in one way or another, and although i note that ageing seems to be of benefit, there are a number of sites appearing that i know for a fact have only been registered in the last couple of months and have only been live for the last 4 weeks or so. I'm aslo seeing one page 'sites' ranking for strong terms, and hugely interlinked pages and sites showing up in good positions.

Now, as far as the affiliate stuff is concerned, i'm seeing confused results.

I'm seeing sites that are well written and not using lots of affiliate content being pushed out of the top 100, and some that are simply replecating affiliate content on their sites moving up.

Is G filtering the sites with affiliate content? Or are they penalising sites with unique content but too many affiliate style links leaving them?

I seem to remember this happening about 2 months ago and it had a massive effect (70% traffic loss) for about 24 hours or so and then it recovered, I'm simply hoping that it will do the same again.
