It's true that Google now indexes dynamic URLs much more effectively than they did a few years back - but let's consider how they accomplished that. When googlebot sees a "?" in the url, there still is likely to be some more extensive logic triggered to protect googlebot, and the site's server, from getting trapped in loops from potentially infinite information spaces. In other words, Google didn't just throw caution to the winds and start spidering URLs with "?" marks in exactly the same fashion as they do other URLs. And that extra processing logic still adds in its overhead.
Google DID in fact update the index for the non-dynamic pages
