That's exactly the kind of sign I've been seeing. Seems like there must be some kind of taxonomy of query terms and websites in play - it's too strong an effect to be a coincidence. The presence of various markets in AdWords could be an indicator of discrete markets on the same 1-word search. Maybe Google's "Chinese wall" between AdWords and organic search is being droppeed just a bit?
In the recent churn, I noticed several market areas I don't normally see rising up to page one. I'm guessing that Google is playing with various ways of sorting these out. page one dominated by results from one market, with the right column dominated by ads from another market.
