How long ago did you register the domain?
Do you have links to this site from external websites?
Have you checked your log files for Googlebot (look for requests for robots.txt)
If you see requests for robots.txt, have you checked the syntax within this file?
You say you have rewritten half of it, define rewrite half? To illustrate what I mean do a search for a long string of text that you may have used from wiki:

google serch [google.co.uk]

See how loads of pages have all those words higlighted in bold, that means they are exact copies. Which could in tern be a reason why they do not rank!

Have you done a "site:" with your site as the query

[google.co.uk...]

That will tell you if you have pages indexed by google.

Forget the "sandbox" for the moment that is about new sites ranking for terms and not whether google hates you!
