Why not do the smart thing and use Javascript links or the "nofollow" attribute? That way, you can sell ad space and not endanger your organic traffic from Google. Still, the choice is yours. OK, we can do that when you're willing to acknowledge that Google has the same rights you do in terms of sending traffic to third parties. (Do you allow anyone and everyone to demand unlimited referrals from your site?)
If Google can sell adspace, then I can damn well sell ad space. Further, I can do so according to my own policies and guidelines, not those imposed by Google. And, if Google attempts to control my internal policies and guidelines by using their market dominance to impose what are ultimately fianancial penalties against me, well then I guess we need to start discussing unfair trade practices.
