haha..its your focus..links..perhaps a little to much....you say the big sites dont have them but thats not strictly true...theres big and theres $%^&ing huge..your naming the $%^&ing huge sites and im not sure they make good examples for the rest of the serps..go to the next level down...the not quite $%^&ing huge and you will find they are buying links rather than swapping them..they also buy networks and point those at their main site..nothing natural about that so i would not agree that not having recips is a sign of quality..often its a sign of a big budget....now if you made the decision to favour big budget sites over recip sites you would certainly clean out a lot of spam and along with it large collateral.......but it would not have anything to do with natural link patterns...
