I just think of my own surfing habits - I'll often go to a page, read it, then back up and check another site in the serps. Doesnt' necesarily have anything to do with the quality of the first site I clicked. It depends on the topic, and what I'm hoping to get out of the page.

You could look at it the opposite way- if the surfer doesn't find what they're looking for in one page view, but instead has to jump around a site, that could almost be taken as a negative.

I think it goes both ways.
