I havenīt followed exactly how much traffic you lost, but if it was like me 85-90% down it is very little to loose trying some major fixes!

Why not try to make a total new index.htm - very few outgoing links and few (none) affilate links or hotels. Save your old index.htm. Submit a reinclusion and wait for a week.

If it gets included again - you can start adding things slowly ;-)
