I agree that the illustration was simplistic. That was the point of the post. In fact, the point of this whole thread. Your competitors, how saavy they are and what is currently out there for any given subject plays a vital role in ranking. Please refer to 5. - in a state of uniqness; unique, as in uncultivated information. When I say uncultivated, that is exactly what I mean. Something that hasn't been written about. The site I have as an example rates nowhere if looking for just that widget. The fact that I was able to narrow it down to a widget within a specific geographic location is the point.

Look, I am not expousing any type of expertise in any of this. I am just taking real world examples of some of the stuff I look at. Ranking for snickerdoodles will come much easier then ranking for travel. That's just the way it is. I am an SEO hack and these are just very simple interpretations of what I see.
