Yes, I think it might spell doom. This happened to my site and I then I was gone from the SERPS for 7 months. I waited and waited then simply got fed up and moved the location of the page i.e... www.site.com/folder/page.html to www.site.com/page.html and was back in Google in about three days and looking healthy. The bad part is I lost 99% of Yahoo traffic and have yet to recover. MSN picked up the change fast as well. I didn't do a permanent redirect though perhaps I should have done one after Google picked up the new pages, but before Yahoo dropped the old ones... my stupid gaff...
