In that case, why not trust Googlebot to crawl your site without a sitemap? Google sitemaps are simply an option for people who don't trust Googlebot to get the job done without help from an outside source.
I would trust Google's technical know-how a great deal more than I would some programmer unknown, possibly sat in a bedroom somewhere!
