Yes I think it's a directory thing. Google has nuked another website powered by my first large web directory. I suspected duplicated content, being accused of buying/selling links based on PageRank, but I have never suspected that it bans website for being a directory. Still I ensure it's a ban, not a filter. Yes, it shows "results 1-4 from 300.000" but that does not explain the PR0 that hit not only my www directory but all subdomains as well.
