Big difference between indexing and ranking. I've got about 5 PR 6 websites linking to me but all that gives me is lots of spidering. Right now, I've got over 865 pages in Google's index - Google recognizes 845 as unique. Month to date, I've got around 40 referrals from Google.

I've had several folks around here look at my website and I've made some changes based on their recommendations. This morning I ranked #231 for my own name - something that Yahoo and MSN rank me #1 for.

I've emailed Google asking if the site was under a penalty - I was told no. The site is all white hat following Brett's 26 steps. The site does well in Yahoo for the keywords I target.

From time to time, I sign some of the articles I write with my own name (first name last name)- which is uncommon. MSN shows me at #3 and #4, Yahoo #1 and #2. There is absolutely no reason for me not to rank well on my name, yet Google shows my site at #114.

To answer you question, this site was launched in early May, first spidered by Google in May 2004 - 12 months in the sandbox.
