How I see it working:
The URL is sent to Google.
Google fetches the URL from the website back to Google.
Google then sends the url data in Gzip compressed form back to the user.
Other Tricks: it guesses the most logical link on page to fetch.
it autograbs pages that are likely to be fetched by users based on other users click tracks.
it auto fetches any url you mouse over.
although it may be using the prefetch mechanism in Mozilla, that algo is *NOT* implemented in IE.
