You are missing what is the issue for me and my sites (and others with similar concerns). you say that "they proxy requests" but google's accelerator does not just proxy requests it automates them and proxies some requests that the user *does not request*. It's the additional automated requests that will cause increased load and cost for me without monetization to pay for the costs. It has the potential to threaten the viability of some sites.
