Looking at my site - it's a co.uk and I think this is the case. I'm at no.1 for my search in google.co.uk but have dropped from no.6 to the 10 page on google.com for the same phrase.

My domain is registered in the UK and hosted in Canada. so where it's hosted makes no difference.

I wish I'd got a .com now as my site is relevant wherever you are that's part of the point of the WWW

never mind time to buy a new domain maybe and register it in the US or does it matter where it's registered? I don't think google is clever enough to also know where a domain was registered or whether that's relevant?
