This has been happening for quite some time now(a year or so). Google automatically pooling in a few important sites on the topic wrt the surfers geographical location. Also when use Google.co.uk there is a option called Search Pages from the UK in Google what does that mean? How Google recognises pages from the UK?
1)pages hosted in the region(server based in uk)
2)Pages with region specific extension(co.uk for uk search)
3)the pages getting inbound links from the pages hosted in a specific region or having region specific extension.
