I've been watching this too, for my industry. I think (and I hope) that the G Directory is showing new PR for sites. I think they are already acting on the new PR ranks in the Serps, though toolbar still shows older ranks. In my industry, there are 2 sites that use stunts like huge volumes of paid-for links or ridiculous on-site directories of links to competitors sites, presumably done in the hope of benefiting from those sites traffic. These 2 sites now show PR0 in the G Directory and they have dropped like bricks in the Serps, though they still show some PR on the toolbar (though lower than they used to).Another site, who is not doing anything obviously dodgy, has dropped 9 or 10 places in the Serps, but still shows his old PR5 in the toolbar, but shows PR3 in G Dir.
My own site, PR5 for years, has gone up 1 or 2 places in the Serps, still shows PR5 in the toolbar, but PR6 in G Dir.
Might mean nothing - but seems to follow a pattern?
