Imagine: WebmasterWorld gets penalized DMOZ.org gets the same.... Yahoo.com gets the PR0... and on, and on, and on....you see where I'm going :) They can't automate it, it's not in their own interest.
I don't think they would automate it, given the whole 'house of cards' potential they could cause to their own db.
