From past behaviour I see... 1. PR seems to be factored in at the very last stages of the 3 to 4 day update. Thats why new pages often perform well early in the update but drop at the finish line.. 2. As we all know, rankings shift a lot during the first few days. Last month, the main www didnt really settle for us for 2 weeks... 3. Results early in the first stages bear only some resemblance to how it settles. Ours vary wildy through www, 2, and 3 for those days. Really, the only one that counts is that at the end of the update. And you cant do a thing about transient results - you are just an observer, until it settles, so going off changing pages after the first few hours or days may not be time usefully spent. Save the time peering at results for improving your site for later updates!
Yes its always fun watching the update! However I have sworn off checking more than once a day for a few phrases because it is a major waste of time.
