I have two sites that are mostly image-based. Both sites were in the Google image database in the past, but are not represented there any more. The sites still do very well in the SERPs, so it's not a penalty (there would be no possible reason for that anyway). They were just apparently overlooked by the image bot. Google, I am not pleased at all with this latest job of yours...
