Just a quick note because digitalv and another poster seem to me to have misinterpreted a statement in the original article:

"They said in the article that if they received 50,000 requests they would remove it from the search engine." (from digitalv's post)

Google said no such thing. The guy with the petition said they would do this. But later in the article, the Google spokesperson says something different, and I would take what Google says officially to be what's relevant in this case.
