So, do the product placement folks dictate plot lines? That's almost as bad as reading Google Zeitgeist and then deciding what your site is going to be about.

Seemless integration is what they strive for. Just a few modifications in the plot structure that goes unnoticed to most will do fine. A few seconds here and there and you will wonder why you feel the sudden urge to "Google." :-)
