Hi Boris, Don't assume that semantics = semantics as you know it. Go to the appliedsemantics.com web site and have a read about Google's domain park. Any technology that can "understand what a domain name means" and build pages of suitable advertisements on the fly based on a match between the search term and the meaning of a domain name is well capable of doing everything that we are seeing and more. Think about how they are going to generate traffic for those parked domains. How they are going to optimise the pages in those domains so that they appear high in SERPs. Now try and convince me that this will lead to better search engine results in the long term. What is being planned might be seen as taking the concept of canned chopped ham to a whole new level. Of course I wouldn't like to say that ;) Best wishes Sid PS I wonder how long this thread will last now!
But seriously, for those of us who are not English majors - are the following reasonable assumptions when semantics are applied to search algorithms?
