For what it's worth, ouir site has had a homepage PR of 6 for a couple of months. Monday it dropped to 5 and backlinks dropped to 190 from 284. Since then the PR and backlinks have been up and down, sometimes 2 or more times per day.

What I am expecting is; in increase in backlinks from 284 to just under 400 and our homepage to increase to a 7. Whether this happens or not is anyones guess.

My conclusion, add content pages frequenly and make sure they are linked back to at least your homepage. Make sure all pages are linked in some way with basic HTML. Hunt down link exchanges with relavent sites, regardless of their *current* PR.
