Hard to say. From GoogleGuy's posts, I dunno if Google is broken (compared to how it worked before), or they are changing the way they update. It used to be Google updated everything once a month, with some occasional freshbot finds added throughout the month. Google may be moving in the direction of Alltheweb, and update just parts of the index every 10 days or so. It also occurs to me the old way of Google updating may not be scaling well with the explosion of the number of web pages, so they need to change how they do it to cope. Having to calculate PR for every page once a month might be a challenge as hundreds of millions of new web pages keep coming online every few months.
>Inktomi already updates much more often that Google, maybe we are seeing Google attempting to level the playing field as far as update regularity is concerned and this new method will allow that to happen?
