I am interested to know how much difference it makes in terms of effective SE rankings if a site is hosted:
1. On a Free/Affiliate site (ie. Geocities/Tripod(Lycos))
2. If a site is hosted as a "sub" domain, eg. "[my site].[my ISP].com"

I know it probably makes some difference - I have several sites listed this way, and I want to understand whether securing my own domain will have much impact on SE rankings....
anyone?
