Macguru, small local and specialized directories, absolutely. Couldn't agree more. Those are treasures when they're found and they're of good quality. And also some specialized search engines for certain niches. I found some the other day that were incredible.

But not a lot of the junk that's included in the submit to thousands automated programs. People are warned to use web-based email accounts with mass submissions. There's a big difference between quality directories and off-beat search engines that spring up.

A good directory is worth paying for. And what's pre-screened at ODP is not the same as the random lists of search engines included in some of the software out there.
