Yes you need text, you need incomming links and loads of other things. Use the sitesearch [searchengineworld.com] to find threads about content, linkpop, etc. You'll find tons of info. Surf this site and read ;) Your graphics should be in .gif or .jpg format and as optimised as possible (small size) TEXT is the most important thing, search engine robots don't see images, they read text.
