>how many lines of code does the spider actually drill down? They'll see the whole page and then strip it down. Some spiders will read/look at more of the html than others. Start with the premise that they do look at things like links, some style information, and other html based page elements. From there, it is up to each spider/indexer system to decide how much of the page to index.
They'll see the drop down, but since "drop down stuffing" was rampant a year ago, they've started decreasing their value.
