Welcome to Webmasterworld. Indeed there are a lot of different opinions out there on website submission. What we have found to be effective without triggering any spam filters is to submit 5 pages per domain per day. Some engines allow more than this, but if you stick to this schedule things will go very smoothly.

There are various submission tools and websites which will allow "queueing" of the submission process so it can be as easy as loading URL's from a text file into the software/website and letting them do the work for you. However for the important domains/pages, manual submission is well worth your time to do it right.
