Webwork I think G is buying these domains for “just in case” purpose and will find limited use for them.

Let’s look at this from different point of view.

I noticed while ago that I would always type in the wikipedia ( .COM ) extension instead of the correct one wikipedia ( .ORG ).

Then I thought:
The fact is that ninety nine percent of the useful or famous domains use and own ( .COM ) extension so it is a natural process for me not to use other extensions.

After that I asked a bunch of my friends what domain extensions are available out there. Everyone knew ( .COM ), about half knew ( .net, .org ) and country specific extensions, few knew ( .info ) rest didn’t know any or didn’t care because they used ( .COM ).

The reality is that almost everyone who can access web knows what ( .COM ) is and will use it first to find domain. Very few people will type other extensions.

If you own ( .COM ) and countries of interest specific extensions you are about done where direct type-in traffic to your website is concern.

The new ( .BOLONEY ) extensions will not have type-in visitors and will be as useless as .tv, .mobi, .biz, .x...x, .asia, .cc, .jobs, to name just few.
