This is going to be the cause of a great many lawsuits here ..inspite of what the AFNIC thinks are "protections" built in to the "relaxation"..
Confirmation here ..AFNIC ( French registrar authority ..equivalent to ICANN ) dates 1st July 2011 and 3rd August 2011.
They do not as yet have an official translation to English of the contents of that page..
Has been possible to register previously forbidden domaine names as dot frs since 1st July 2011..confirmed .
Publication in the "Journal Officiel" was on the 3rd August 2011 ..making it French Law..
If you go here ..
[afnic.fr...] and click the UK flag ( tiny at top right of page )..you will get an official translation to English..if you need.
Specific conditions still apply as of 08.08.2011 in order to be able to register .fr domains of any sort ..
