So - regarding Question 2.

You are saying that point one domain to another can cause issues, so the redirect was part of that problem? Or a fix to that problem? Is this a 301 redirect? (Pardon my lack of knowledge - I am learning)...

In the case I am talking about - the second domain would also point to the home page - NOT to a page within the site.
