When a domain expires, the registrar automatically renew the domain name for another year EVEN if the client didn't pay (need verification), although in reality, it only renew it for 40 days allowing the client to renew it for free. In these 40 days the domain is parked and dns is pointing to the registrar.
So, never count on the expiration data in the WHOIS.
You have to get back to your billing history, and verify you paid for 2 years for the domain name.
