GD has the worst user interface. And, yes, as you sign up a simple domain, you can easily click on services you don't want.
But, once you see the pattern (just read carefully), they do have good prices. And unlike two other domain firms I have recently had to deal with, their customer service is straightforward and helpful. (True, it's nice that their on-hold music is good and they even give you the option to hold without music. This is why speaker phones are great.)
I make my clients--small businesses--handle their own account, but I'll get the PIN and user name so when they have problems with their service provider, I can step in. Maybe it's because I know the system, but GD makes me look good where others (Network Solutions, to pick one larger firm as an example), not so much.
