If you are going to do this then #2 would be my choice.

Do you think you would get any type-ins for #1? If so buy that as well and url forward it to #2.

The other option would be to create #1 and then if you decide to expand create site #2 and crosslink it with #1.

So long as there is no/little duplication of content they'll run fine alongside each other. I do this with 10 different country-specific domains, they all link to each other including the main .com, this makes it possible for any of my customers to go striaght from the .com site to India, then China then United Kingdom then etc. seemlessly.
