A keyword based TLD isn't required to succeed
I've been considering this for some time. Better to think up a brand name and promote it or use a keyword domain ?
At the end of the day I think I agree with Edwin - to establish a brand takes mega-bucks, if you haven't got that , or a really hot marketing/PR team, in a practical sense the keyword route may be the way to go. Actually I am testing that now as we own a non-keyword brand and related keyword domains.
