Must be a bug or some kind of error. Possibly the registrar is not submiting the DNS changes or doing it slowly.

Most of my nameserver changes take effect very fast. A few yrs ago it was often 24-hrs or so but we have had so called 'instant propogation' for a long time.

Recently (with some registars) I have seen delays of as much as roughly 6 to 12-hrs but even that is not common. As an example, I changed DNS yesterday on a .org domain which was parked to a new website on a different server which new site resolved in 2-minutes.
