I nominate the above statement for overblown Hyperbole statement of 2005.
Perhaps 7% is too high. I personally think it is. It is unreasonable to think that there should not be a mechanism for them to at the very least keep pace with inflation.
the over-blown gloom and doom of this cry is that .com domains will cost $12 a year to register in 2015? Seriously.
By the way I have seen some complaints elsewhere where people don't think that .com domain charges should ever be raised. I don't believe such a position to be realistic.
If I were to take issue with this proposed agreement, it would be more with the issues revolved to verisign being able to keep the monopoly without regularly having to compete for it. I would like to see a more open and frequent competition for the .com domain.
Getting freaked out about the pricing seems like a miss on the real issues of the agreement.
