A person buying an expired domain can get a new site live much quicker so that the SE robots can find the new content that much faster ;-)

The world is moving faster in all ways, Google will have to respond sooner or later with faster inclusions in it's index or they will suffer the same fact as the SE leaders of the past, (remember when Altavista and Webcrawler were the Top Dogs of search ;-) )
