Hosting is usually worth what you pay for it....

If you are going to make a site that needs php, etc don't you think that it might be worth a few dollars a year?

There have been some serious problems with "free hosting" companies arbitrarily turning off access to gBot and friends.

Last fall Godaddy hosting blocked Googlebot at the server level.
