example.com/ That is 16 URLs all pointing to the same page of content -- and possibly more, if example.com/index.html (or .htm or .php) resolves to the same thing as example.com/ Jim
Simply incompetence on their part: They have two URLs for each of their pages, and so are competing with themselves... and neither URL will do as well in the search rankings as a result. It's fairly likely that you can get duplicate content from all of these:
example.com./
example.com:80/
example.com.:80/
www.example.com/
www.example.com./
www.example.com:80/
www.example.com.:80/
example123.com/
example123.com./
example123.com:80/
example124.com.:80/
www.example123.com/
www.example123.com./
