Thanks phranque. A similar theory came up before, but it's good to see it surface again.

Should I be concerned from a SEO/SERPS point of view, when changing my forums URL structure from example.com/forums/... to forums.example.com...
My feeling is that the forums will disappear from the SERPS in this case.
