Depends how it's set up. If it's as a popup, you're not going to get many results as so many people block popups now. If it's neatly explained and integrated then it can be useful, but my own experience was that it caused confusion, and you can often bypass it anyway so it's a little pointless. It's supposed to be good for merchants in that it removes your liability for fraudulent orders, but that's not the whole story if you read the small print. It's probably worth a try though so you can monitor the success and dropped carts compared to current sales.
