We run a small site with 150 orders a month. We have a shopping cart and people fill in their name, adress etc. for every purchase.
In order to service the customer better and provide order history, a product wish-list and more I'm considering forcing customers to create a custumer profile with personal information, settings, subscription to newsletter etc. It's a great way to increase the tracking of customer activities it seems.
Would you recommend doing that? It seems it standard on most serious sites.
Would some customers shy away when forced to register before being able to purchase something? Are the advantages just way bigger than the disadvantages with this?
