There's no standard response. It depends on what you're selling. I use a lot of content, both direct for products, and also complimentary stuff to help people. I sell very technical things. I rank pretty well, and I also think I help cut down emails from people asking the same questions. Do all people read it? No... But that doesn't mean nobody does. If people don't want to read it, they don't have to. I don't see how having good info could possibly hurt. As long as it's easy to find the price, the impatient people should be happy.
