---- Mozilla Pushes On With Plans For Common Web API For Payments
jwolthuis - 1:52 am on Apr 6, 2013 (gmt 0)Their examples use the purchase of a "Magical Unicorn" to explain their API... nice.
I doubt that an API called "mozPay()" will get much traction outside of Mountain View.
It has a host of limitations:
No support for a "shopping cart" concept multiple items being purchased.
The "currency" of the transaction is predefined, depending on the Payment Provider. Sellers who ship worldwide can only accept payments in one currency.
No support for multi-shipment tracking numbers. How does a merchant tie a "mozPay" to "shipments"?
Nothing to distinguish the cost of "items" from the cost of "shipping". There's just a "price", period.
The issue of Sales Tax or VAT are ignored.
How are deferred payments (Cash, Check, Money Order, Western Union, Giro network) handled? Or is this a credit/debit card system only?
